The 2012 is another excellent wine to add to the long prestegious history of great Ornellaia. Today, this needs a bit of time to open, but once it does it is completely compelling and ultra-satisfying. The gorgeous aromas of fresh blackberries, and currants are woven together with violet, graphite, coffee, sweet spices, cocoa, fresh minerals, which all slowly begin to take shape in the glass. It shows terrific overall balance and depth, with a beautiful layered, finessed texture all the way through the long velvety finish. A classy Ornellaia, with a wonderful elegant personality, all signs look to be pointing to an even brighter future. (Best 2018-2036) - September, 2015 (JD)
