The 2009 'Vina Tondonia' Gran Reserva Rosado is an impressive blend of 60% Garnacho with 30% Tempranillo and 10% Viura. This beautiful Rosé wine was aged for four years in American oak and another five years in bottle prior to release. As it begins to unwind it releases lovely aromatics of bright red fruits with blood orange and wild mushroom that are wrapped around toasty oak in the glass. The palate is silky smooth, revealing a seductive texture and a gorgoeus streak of mineral and saline. Remarkably light on its feet, and beautifully focused, this goes on to deliver flavors of red fruits and suggestions of kumquat and teaberry with peat moss undertones. Shownig a remarkable combination of balance and precision, this simply brilliant Rosé should continue to age gracefully for at least another another decade.
