Barrel fermented and aged in 25% new French oak puncheons for 16 months, this Chardonnay is a tad leaner, with less oak treatment, than the single vineyard bottlings. A nose of Granny Smith apple, yellow pear, wet chalk, and vanilla bean abounds in the glass. Luscious mouth-watering acidity hits the mid palate, but the round flavors of the fruit, along with the secondary aspects of sweet baking spice and the minerality, create a long-lasting and delicious finish. This is a lovely Chardonnay from Pence. Only 377 cases produced.
