The grapes for the 2011 Sanford and Benedict Chardonnay come from the vineyards original 1971 plantings. The aromas are clean and elegant with notes of lemon oil, white raisin, kiwi, saline, spice, cream and floral notes. I love the purity and superb finesse along with the clean acidity and a mouth-watering finish that leaves you craving more. This certainly drinks well today and really begins to express itself after an hour or two of air contact, but ultimately this needs a few years of bottle age before it will be at its best.
