The 2012 Santa Rita Hills Pinot Noir from Domaine de la Côte comes from 15 acres of vineyards planted at 200 feet above sea level. 2012 was also the first vintage where the use of sulfur dioxide was eliminated, in efforts to develop more complexity and transparency. The wine itself is simply gorgeous, offering wonderful aromas of bright red fruits, plum, currant, lavender, exotic spice, fresh spring flowers as well as some savory characteristics, which leap from the glass. It has a lovely mouth feel, with lots of ripe fruit up front and balanced acidity on the backend and finish. Overall, this is showing lots of elegance and purity right now, and should continue to evolve even further over the next few years. (Best 2016-2023) - June, 2015 (MD)
