DOMAINE DE LA CÔTE Pinot Noir 'La Côte' 2012

2015 TOP 100 WINES | Rank #16

The 2012 'La Côte' Pinot Noir is a flat-out stunning wine, which comes from a small section of a 9-acre parcel that faces south-east on a steep slope of broken shale in the La Côte Vineyard. This specific location allows the vines to draw in the energy of the morning sun and the exposed shale warms vines from the night time chill. The wine itself is fermented with 100% whole bunches and offers seductive aromas black raspberries and cherries followed by violets, exotic spices, smoldering embers and some earth tones which burst from the glass. This balanced, beautifully finessed Pinot Noir continues to impress with its absolutely seamless, satin-like texture and supple mouth feel that pushes through onto the expansive finish. Simply put, this is a world-class effort from the team lead by Raj Parr and Sahsi Moorman and without doubt among the best examples of Pinot Noir you will find, not only in California, but in the world.
