Poetry is the "Grand Vin" from Cliff Lede, it is sourced from the Poetry Vineyard in the Stags Leap District, which was designed by David Abreu. The vineyard runs from the highest elevations of the Stags Leap District appellation down to the valley floor. It consists of shallow, volcanic soils that rest on fractured shale and is planted to proprietary heritage selections of Cabernet Sauvignon. In 2015 the wine is simply fabulous, as it instantly begins to impress with its bold presence. Seductive aromas of ripe blackberries and blueberries burst from the glass as secondary nuances of violets, spices, graphite, warm asphalt and dried earthy minerals all add wonderful complexity. On the palate this is full-bodied, layered and dense with remarkable concentration and depth. Despite is profound stature this is extremely well poised with notable tannin structure, all signs which indicate its potential to age. Composed of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Cabernet Franc, 4% Merlot, 1% Petit Verdot this majestic wine will still need some time to settle down, however it will surely have a remarkable future ahead.
