The 2007 Shafer ‘25th Anniversary Hillside Select’ is a layered voluptuous wine with seductive aromas of fresh black cherries, sweet blackberries, forest floor, molasses, spices, pine and aged wood, but the oak is not intrusive by any means. It offers a great palate entry, seamless balance with wonderful depth and concentration of dark berry fruit, pine, sweet balsamic and black cherry. The wine segues into the supple finish with even more layers of velvety dark fruit. This should have no trouble lasting 20 years, a fantastic job by winemaker Elias Fernandez and the wine making team at Shafer on this incredible Hillside Select.
