The 2013 Caliza 'Azimuth' is a fantastic blend of 40% Grenache, 40% Mourvèdre and 20% Syrah which offers aromas black cherries, mocha, anise and hints of crushed mint all soaring from the glass. On the palate this is full-bodied and deeply layered with flavors pipe tobacco, anise, lavender, crème de cassis and milk chocolate. The intensity and concentration of this wine is exceptional from start to finish. This becomes more expressive with air contact and I expect it should continue to show even better if allowed a few more years of bottle age to all settle in. (Best 2016-2026) - July, 2016 (OB)
