The 2013 Artesa 'Reserve' Pinot Noir follows up their excellent 2012 bottling. This expressive Pinot was sourced from vineyards in the southern end of Napa in Carneros. The wine was aged 10 months in French oak (50% new) prior to bottling. This Pinot Noir opens with aromas of red cherry, dill, cranberry, and suggestions of nutmeg and sassafras. There are layered flavors of red cherry, nutmeg, red raspberry, cola and vanilla. Seamless and smooth, this has a plush and silky mouthfeel. While this does not possess a ton of fruit weight, the gorgeous texture, fruit flavors and structure make this excellent bottling impossible to resist right now. (Best 2016-2026) - August, 2016 (OB)
