MAYACAMAS Chardonnay, Mount Veeder 2017

The 2017 Chardonnay from Mayacamas is absolutely brilliant. The fruit was sourced primarily from their 40-year old dry-farmed vines located between 1,800 and 2,000 feet in elevation, as well as some fruit from the younger vines in the newly replanted Hill Block. Bright and vivid, this instantly impresses as it opens to gorgeous aromas of lemon oil, white peach, kiwi, honey blossoms and even hints of pineapple rind, which are woven together with a wonderful stony mineral character. Showing incredible focus and precision, this goes on to impress with its mouthwatering acidity and fantastic mineral-infused citrus flavors that persist though the finish. While this is absolutely stunning now, it should also go on to drink beautifully with some additional bottle age. The talented winemaking team of Braiden Albrecht and Andy Erickson have crafted an absolutely fascinating Chardonnay, which is amongst the finest being made in all of the United States.
