The 2013 Mt. Brave Cabernet Sauvignon is another stellar wine from Chris Carpenter in this vintage. Mt. Brave Vineyard is situated high atop Mt. Veeder at an elevation of 1,400 to 1,800 feet on the western side of Napa. This high elevation vineyard offers cooler days than the Valley floor, longer sun exposure which yield tiny berries with wonderfully concentrated flavors. This ripe, concentrated mountain fruit certainly reflect in this wine, as this bursts open with intense aromas of black currants and blueberries woven together with fresh spring florals, sweet spices, anise and graphite. On the palate this is full-bodied and powerful with remarkable concentration and a polished frame. It continues to deliver layers of ripe fruits and sweet spices until the very end, where it leaves a long lasting impression. This is certainly delicious today, however this will without question continue to drink well for years to come. (Best 2018-2030) - November, 2016 (JD)
