The 2016 'Patriarch' Cabernet Sauvignon is a drop-dead stunning wine from Frank Family. Sourced from a single parcel in the Winston Hill Vineyard, which rises up 500 feet from the valley floor on the eastern side of the Napa Valley’s Rutherford appellation along the Vaca Mountain range. The vines are planted to well-drained volcanic and sandstone soils at a southwestern exposure. The result is an absolutely outstanding Cabernet that possesses both beautifully concentrated ripe fruit and wonderful terroir driven character. It immediately opens up to seductive nuances of ripe blackberries and currants which are woven together with graphite, fresh florals, sweet spices, dusty minerals, and hints of cocoa and scorched earth rounding out the intoxicating aromatics. On this palate this offers incredible full-bodied richness with incredible round, polished tannins and a gorgeous voluptuous mouthfeel. It continues to impress as it demonstrates incredible opulence and depth with layers of gorgeous ripe dark fruits all building up to the long graceful finish. This majestic Cabernet is absolutely stunning now and will be open for business upon release, however it should also cruise in the cellar and continue to temp readers over the next two decades.
