Another stunning Syrah from Betz that is a combination of 97% Syrah and 3% Viognier with the later bringing incredible floral notes to the nose. Along with white flower petals, the wine shows aromatics of black and red plums, marionberry, blackberry jam, graphite and deep-fried chicken skin. The mouthfeel is somewhat tannic but the wine is young and needs some time to rest and develop, or give it a long decant. Luckily, the tannins are balanced with pronounced acidity and flavors of blackberry, wild blueberry, smoked beef, white pepper and a wet-stone salinity. It’s smokey, floral and delicious. 180 cases produced.
