A superb blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Petit Verdot and 2% Merlot that is aged in 100% new French oak for 19 months. A beauty in the glass with a deep violet core and a ruby rim that expresses itself on the nose with aromas of boysenberry, black currant, blue plums, integrated oak, rich potpourri, and sagebrush. The palate is similar in profile with flavors of black plum, fresh black cherry, papaya, dried baking spices and wet tilled earth. The tannins are high and pronounced but the acidity balances them out nicely. A spectacular effort by the team at Betz. The wine will age for 15-20 years and needs several years in the bottle to fully come to life. Drink 2023-2040.
