Sourced from fruit in the Columbia Valley, comprises 60% Merlot, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot and is aged for 18 months in 55% new French oak barrels. D2 has always been a fan favorite from Delille and this vintage is no exception. Clean aromas of red cherry, smokey grilled black plum, sweet baking spices, and ground coffee are all present in the glass. Tannins are a bit chalky but subtle, suggesting a year or so of bottle age would be beneficial. The star of the show is the fruit-driven finish that ends earthy and savory on the back palate. I like this even better than the stellar 2018 vintage and delivers way more than the $45 price point suggests.
