ANDREW JANUIK, Red Wine, Columbia Valley ‘Los Molinos’ 2018

A blend of 58% Grenache, 22% Syrah, and 20% Mourvedre that is aged for 19 months in 50% new French oak. Leaping from the glass are aromas of sweet candied red cherry, fresh wild strawberry, and a hint of pink peppercorn and fresh mint. Tannins are still a bit chalky but show potential alongside the medium to high acidity, and wonderful mineral-laden finish. I love the aspects of crushed dried herbs and wet earth flavors I get on the mid-palate. My favorite wine from this tasting. Best in 2023.
