BANSHEE Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast 'Marine Layer' 2012

The 2012 Marine Layer from Banshee is a wonderfully elegant Pinot Noir, delivering aromas of raspberry and cranberry followed by spices and dried floral with hints of black tea and fresh earthy minerals. This demonstrates remarkable balance, with a gorgeous soft, silky texture that glides effortlessly across your palate. The clean, pretty finish is laced with wild berries and exotic spices. This gains complexity as it sits in the glass and I expect it to continue to do so over the next decade. The Pinot Noir for the Marine Layer was sourced from Sonoma Coast vineyards with remarkable pedigree, including Coastlands, Rice-Spivak, Hellenthal, Emmaline and Jack Hill. Banshee also involved Ross Cobb as the consultant winemaker and conducted the winemaking at Hirsch Vineyards. Only 8 barrels made of this beauty. (Best 2014-2024) - March, 2014 (MD)
