SOLISTE Pinot Noir 'L'Ambroisie' 2012

The 2012 ‘L’Ambroisie’ is an absolutely thrilling Pinot Noir made from a specific selection of the Dijon 828 clone, from where its true lineage is still unknown, but believed to be of La Tâche. The vines for this “828” clone are rooted in the Guidicci Vineyard, which is situated on steep slopes in the middle of the redwoods. As this brilliant wine slowly opens up it releases beautiful aromatics of fresh raspberry and cranberry fruit woven together with exotic spices, dried violets and orange zest. This continues to impress with its sheer elegance, beautiful structure, round mouthfeel and racy core of acidity that bursts onto the vibrant finish. Ultimately, this is an age worthy wine that will require additional time before it hits full stride, but that being said it is certainly one of the finest examples of Pinot Noir I have ever tasted from the United States and is a true rendition of a top quality Grand Cru Burgundy. Under 70 cases made. (Best 2019-2035) - November, 2014 (MD)
