The 2013 'Marine Layer' Pinot Noir comes from various vineyards including Coastlands, Rice-Spivak, Hellenthal, Thorn Ridge and Jack Hill. As this open in the glass it releases aromas of fresh raspberries, wild berries, forest floor, dried floral, sweet spices and smoky minerals. The medium body is nicely structured and displays an excellent balance of fruit and acidity as it heads into the mouth watering finish. Notes of berries and dried spices give way to a lovely smoky character that lingers on. Aged for 15 months in 20% new French oak barrels with the remainder in one and two-year-old barrels.
