The Comptche Ridge Vineyard is surrounded by redwoods and Douglas-fir in a small area of Mendocino located inside the town of Comptche. The 2012 Pinot Noir is incredibly pure and fresh, with aromas of wild berry, black tea, pomegranate, earth, spice box and floral notes. Very complex on the palate, with lots of delicious red fruit flavors cascading through the wine. It has a firm core and long finish. Still needs some short-term cellaring and will drink beautifully over the next decade plus. (Best 2015-2025) - June, 2014 (MD)
