CALERA Pinot Noir, Mt. Harlan 'de Villers' 2011

This Pinot Noir is sourced from Calera's 'de Villers' vineyard on Mount Harlan. Situated at an average elevation of 2,200 feet, de Villers is among the highest and coolest vineyard sites in California. As far as the wine itself, it has a dark ruby color and was aged 18 months in French oak (30% new). The nose is intense, with aromas of red fruit, strawberry compote, baking spice, toasted oak, damp earth and floral notes. This modern style Pinot Noir is dense and concentrated with ripe fruit flavors and spices that carry into the smooth, caressing finish. Overall, a delicious wine and should be a crowd pleaser for many. (Best 2014-2024) - March, 2014 (MD)
