CALERA Pinot Noir, Mt Harlan, Jensen Vineyard 2017

Another stunner of a Pinot Noir from Calera from the Jensen Vineyard in the Mt Harlan AVA, this wine sees 30% new French oak treatment and 17 months in barrel. The vines from this vineyard are over 40 years old and drives complexity and elegance in this Pinot Noir. Imagine an intense nose of blueberry, wild huckleberry, forest mushrooms, dried poultry herbs and red flower blossoms. If you aren’t sold yet, the palate expresses flavors of fresh red plums, wild black raspberry, freshl forest earth, toasted cedar and a hint of fresh fennel. The wine starts very savory on the tongue but ends with a surprise burst of fruit that hits the back of your palate. Highly recommended.
