The 2017 Melanson Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from Tor is absolutely magnificent, and may be Tor’s finest Cabernet yet from this gorgeous property situated high on Pritchard Hill. It begins with stunning nuances of fresh ripe blackberries and black currants along with fresh violets, graphite and hints of mocha, loam and fresh sage that all take shape to form the incredibly expressive aromatics. On the palate this full-bodied Cabernet goes on to display outtanding overall depth and concentration, with beautifully polished tannins that provide serious structure. It continues to impress as it delivers layers of fresh ripe dark fruits that are underlined by a gorgeous streak of minerality which expands through the long finish. While the Melanson Vineyard Cabernet is already fabulous in its youth, it should also continue to evolve gracefully and have a sensational future ahead. Simply put, this is yet another absolutely phenomenal wine from Tor and Winemaker Jeff Ames.

The 2017 should evolve gracefully for decades and should only become more compelling as it continues to develop over time. Another total success from Tor and Winemaker Jeff Ames on this exceptional Cabernet.
