The 2019 Nysa from Nicolas Jay comes from own-rooted Pommard clones from a 1990 planting and is aged in 50% new French oak barrels. Fresh thimbleberry, cranberry, volcanic soils, wet autumn leaves, and pencil shavings shine forth on the nose and on the palate. High-toned fruit, vanilla bean, and cigar box creep in on the palate. It’s round, plush, and wonderfully bright. Just 195 cases produced
