DOMAINE SERENE Chardonnay, Dundee Hills ‘Récolte Grand Cru’ 2019

The always scintillating Récolte Grand Cru Chardonnay from Domaine Serene steps up for another impressive vintage in 2019. Earthy and spicy with hints of Meyer lemon zest, white peach, wet clay, sliced button mushrooms, lemon verbena, and mountain wildflowers, it’s stunning in the glass with its lightly colored, glistening lemon-colored core with a watery rim. Displaying an almost tannin-like structure on the gums, which may come from some skin contact during fermentation, it’s a rich yet delicate specimen that finishes long and is well worth its $160 price tag. I cannot wait to see how this ages over the next 10-15 years. Highly recommended and Editor’s Choice.
