NICOLAS JAY Pinot Noir, Yamhill Carlton ‘Bishop Creek Vineyard’ 2019

A majority of the fruit from the Bishop Creek Vineyard comes from fruit that was planted in 1998 and 1990 and is own-rooted. The nose pops with the terroir and sense of place of this vineyard with notes of black cherry candy, blueberry pie, raspberry liquor, cedary herbs, and a lovely toasted clove note, which you get from the 50% new French oak barrel aging. The palate is pure and round with medium-plus tannins and high acidity and brings additional components of white peppercorn and dried lavender on the finish. Better in 2023. Only 288 cases were produced.
