The 2014 'Cuvee Alexandrine' by Phelps Creek is one of the finest Pinot Noir that I have tasted from the Columbia Gorge region. Winemaker Alexandrine Roy chose his finest 15 barrels to make this wine and the results are evident, as this opens with a bouquet of nutmeg, white pepper, red cherry, pomegranate and suggestions of blood orange. The palate is lithe and dense with flavors of blackberry preserves, black cherry, sage, black truffle, orange rind and forest floor. This has wonderful viscosity and long, lingering finish of red fruits and spices. Drink this beauty over the next decade or so. This is another simply fabulous effort from this estate.
