BETZ Cabernet Sauvignon, Heart of the Hill Vineyard 2017

The 2017 Heart of the Hill Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is another stunning release from Betz in this vintage. This was fermented in 67% concrete tanks and then was aged for 19 months in 100% French oak prior to bottling. It opens with aromatics reminiscent of tar, sagebrush, mocha and rich dark fruits that all connect marvelously. The palate display a wonderful combination of freshness and a rich unctuous quality. Moderate tannins wrap the flavors of dark fruits with dark chocolate and Turkish coffee and lighter herbal and tar undertones. While this is delightful in its youth, it should also  continue to evolve well for decades.
