FORCE MAJEURE Syrah, Red Mountain ‘Estate’ 2019

Always one of my favorites from winemaker Todd Alexander, this 2019 vintage of the Force Majeure Red Mountain Syrah is exceptionally good. 98% Syrah is co-fermented with 2% Viognier and displays a dark fluorescent purple in the glass. Aromas of blackberry, black cherry, candied wild flower, cracked green peppercorn, charcuterie and dried sage create a profoundly interesting glass of wine. High acidity, sweet ripe tannins and a rich, full mouthfeel meld with additional flavors of wild mountain blueberry, iron ore and saline. Needs a few more years but the wait will be worth it. Highly recommended.
