I didn’t have access to the tech sheets on this wine during my tasting so I unfortunately don’t have the exact specifications of the blend, but typically the Epinette contains approximately 80% Merlot with the rest being Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot that is aged in a good percentage of new French oak. It’s rich and decadent on the nose with aromas of huckleberry, black cherry and blue plum skin. It delivers a lovely balance of high acidity and ripe, grippy tannins alongside concentrated flavors of baked black and red fruit, smoky spices, cedary herbs, pencil shavings and saline. It needs another year or two in the bottle before it comes into its own.
