A new project from one of the best winemakers in the state of Washington, Todd Alexander, the Weathereye vineyard has finally begun producing their own Estate wines that are absolutely phenomenal. Resting for 18 months in a combination of new and used French oak barrels, these grapes come from the highest vineyard planting of all of Red Mountain at 1,230 feet. A nose that is ethereal in its beauty producing aromas of boysenberry, black plum, wild sage, menthol, black olive and smoked brisket. It’s still incredibly young but shows unparalleled potential throughout its core. Full-bodied with grippy tannins, the wine delivers a mineral and savory finish that dances on the tongue. Give this wine two more years and then enjoy it over the next decade or longer. Highly recommended. Only 170 cases produced.
