The flagship wine from Canvasback is sourced from the best barrels plucked from the famous Quintessence Vineyard. This blend of 99% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Merlot is aged for 20 months in 90% new French oak barrels and displays a dark ink-purple in the glass. This is a hedonistic bottle of Washington Cabernet with aspects of blackberry jam, baked boysenberry pie, cassis, black licorice, mountain sage, cedary herbs, vanilla bean, and cigar box. The tannins are grippy and wonderful, the acidity is elevated, the mouthfeel is full and luscious, and the finish is fruity, savory, lengthy, and balanced. Best after 2024. Highly recommended.
