The Ceidleigh Syrahs from Red Mountain have always been some of my favorites from Efeste. The explosive nose is almost Cabernet-like with blackberry and black plum aromas, followed by tobacco, mountain sage, wet earth, and freshly ground pepper. But the palate is pure rich Syrah from Red Mountain - it’s meaty, tannic, rich, and decadent with flavors of black olive and bacon fat. The acidity is bountiful, the mouthfeel is full - but this needs time to evolve because it’s very tight. Give it 2-3 years before popping it open and then enjoy a beautiful Washington Syrah over the next decade.
