The 2016 Sugarloaf Mountain Proprietary Red is another drop-dead stunning wine from Russell Bevan in this vintage. Composed of Cabernet Franc and Merlot, this instantly begins to impress with its incredible aromatics of beautifully ripe blackberries, dark cherries and even some blueberries which are woven together with violets, espresso, sweet spices, sage and earth all exploding from the glass. This is powerful and intense, displaying remarkable richness, power and intensity, yet well-poised with lovey sense of purity. It continues to deliver layer upon layer of gorgeous plush ripe dark fruits and hints of spices which envelop the palate and comes to an end with a big voluptuous finish that leaves a wonderful lasting impression. This is a serious bottle of Cabernet that is already utterly delicious and should continue to drinkincredibly well for many years to come.
