The 2014 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon from Chateau Montelena is an excellent showing in this vintage. It opens to aromatics of cassis, graphite, pipe tobacco and hints of smoke, which immediately burst from the glass. The palate is full and beautifully textured, as it unfolds flavors of cassis, coffee grounds, blackberry jam flavors and anise that sit alongside gorgeous minerality, as everything comes together and lingers on the finish.
