The 2005 Cardinale Red Wine is fantastic blend of 88% Cabernet with 12% Merlot sourced from vineyards across the valley and spent 20 months in 100% French oak, 100% new. This opens to a gorgeous bouquet of crème de cassis, black tea, graphite and mocha which instantly begin to seduce. The texture is full and voluptuous, layered with flavors of mocha, sandalwood, black tea and blackberry reduction, which are underlined by wonderful minerality. Everything come together seamlessly, bringing this to an absolutely sublime finish. Overall, this is a stunning Cabernet from Chris Carpenter, which is still somewhat in the early stage of its maturity.
