100% Syrah from the famous Funk Vineyard in The Rocks that is aged 35% in new French oak barrels for 16 months. The nose is clean and beautiful and doesn’t display some of that “Rocks” funk that you would typically find in the area. Lovely aromas of blueberry compote, blackberry, toasted cinnamon spice, and dried violet flower pop in the glass. Bountiful flavors of black plum, black-peppered charcuterie, dusty country road, and black olive form the interesting palate where you could pinpoint the location of this wine in a blind tasting. It’s incredibly complex, interesting, and a wine that I would happily drink at any time. Enjoy this over the next 15 years.
