A glimmering medium ruby core with a silvery rim in the glass, the 2021 Summum displays a magnificent nose of black cherry, candied lavender, Blood orange zest, salted caramel, ground white pepper, tilled earth, and crushed slate. The 2021s coming out of Oregon are incredibly good, and Evening Land is showcasing a masterclass on how Pinot Noir should be in Oregon with this wine. Wonderfully broad, expansive, and round on the palate, the acidity levels are perfect, the tannins are soft and integrated, and the finish is red-fruit forward with hints of sweet baking spices finalizing it all. It will be fun to see how this wine evolves over the next decade. Highly recommended.
