BETZ Syrah, Walla Walla Valley 'Domaine de Pierres' 2017

The 'Domaine de Pierres' Syrah is the second release of this estate sourced wine from the Ancient Stones Vineyard in the Walla Walla Valley. The Syrah was aged for thirteen months in 100% French oak and begins with savory and smoky aromatics with umami and bright red fruits that are laced with lighter citrus zest nuances. The palate shows wonderful viscosity and freshness with a silky mouthfeel that give way to flavors of red cherry preserves, wet stones, seaweed and traces of white truffle shavings. This Syrah is excellent in its youth and should go on to offer a drinking window that spans a decade or more.
