A phenomenal first effort from the Echolands team’s first vintage. This 98% Syrah contains a small 2% portion of Viognier to give it some added aromatics and lift. I adore the more restrained style of this Syrah that delivers an outstanding dusty nose of boysenberry, blueberry, black-peppered salami and purple wild flower. The palate is fresh and steady with dominant flavors of black cherry, lavender, roasted beef brisket, crushed peppercorn and a touch of tangerine pith. It is going to be fun to see what the future holds for Echolands, and if this wine is any foreshadowing, we are in for a treat! Drink now with a few hours of decanting or let it rest in your cellar for a few years to allow this Syrah to fully develop.
