Gramercy’s John Lewis Syrah always delivers year after year, and it’s a wine that I look forward to tasting. Aged for 17 months in 10% new French oak puncheons and fermented 90% whole cluster, this is a spicy, rich, and perfumed Syrah that boasts notes of macerated boysenberry, spiced baked blue plum, crushed black peppercorn, graphite, smoked beef ribs, dried lavender, scorched herbs, and a hint of vanilla bean. Medium to full-bodied, with balanced acidity, rounded tannins, and a complex meaty and savory finish, makes this stunning effort worthwhile to seek out. Just 240 cases produced. Highly recommended.
