A wonderful red blend from L’Ecole that is 59% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, 7% Malbec, 6% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot. Brought up in 40% new French oak for 22 months, this inky colored wine shows violets and blue fruit on the nose. Possessing ample, fine tannins, and a nice mouthfeel, the entry was pleasing. Cassis, black cherry, sweet tobacco, and baking chocolate were all present early in the mix. The more air this wine received the deeper and denser it got. Mid-palate added milk chocolate and arabica beans, while the one-minute finish provided time for slight fig to make an appearance. Coming from the famed Ferguson Vineyard, this wine, as with all the 2020 L’Ecole reds tasted, will benefit from a few years of cellaring. This one should have 20 years of prime drinking ahead of it.
