The fascinating and exuberant 2020 Sur Echalas Vineyard Grenache from Horsepower showcases a medium to dark purple and ruby core with a silvery rim in the glass. Aromas bounce from the glass - think notes of wet earth, umami, crushed macerated red cherries, and blood orange essence. It has an interesting meaty quality to it that is quite intriguing. Gliding across the tongue with no rough edges at all, it ends silky smooth with ample acidity and a lovely earth and spice-driven finish. Just a small production of 300 cases were made. Highly recommended and Editor’s Choice.
