It is always hard following up a classic wine. This 2013 follows up the absolutely exceptional 2012. This hotter vintage red is nearly as good. Woodward sourced this wine from the Champoux, Sagemoor, Woodward Canyon Estate, Charbonneau, Discovery, Spring Creek and Summit View vineyards. It is comprised of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon with 11% Petite Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc. The wine develops in the glass with aromas of red currant, graphite, sage and blackberry on the nose. Hints of milk chocolate in there as well. There are flavors of blackberry, anise, blueberry puree, oak and creme de cassis. Lovely and rich bottling that needs some time in the bottle to develop. The structure to this wine is impressive. (Best 2017-2030) - February, 2016 (OB)
