A great site for Washington Merlot over the past decade, this 2013 'Seven Hills Vineyard' effort is an excellent, medium-bodied bottling of this smooth varietal. There is 3% each of Cabernet and Cab Franc blended as the wine was aged in 40% new oak for 20 months prior to bottling. This wine begins with aromatics of red cherries, dried plum, milk chocolate and pencil shavings. On the palate I love the lovely minerality and mouthfeel this Merlot brings as it continues to deliver notes red cherries, red raspberry, milk chocolate and hints of red currant all the way through the finish.
