Conveying a more feminine side than the 'Northern Blend,' the 'Southern Blend' consists of 70% Grenache, 25% Mourvèdre with the rest Syrah. Similar to the other red wines in their range, this wine also needs roughly a one hour decant to hit its stride. Having a translucent core, the wine begins with hints of white pepper, anise, Unami, tangerine rind and red cherry on the nose. The palate is smooth and beautifully textured, yielding flavors of pork fat, black olive, black cherry preserves, with hints of crème de cassis. This shows wonderful range and viscosity, with a silky mouthfeel, as the winemaking is superb. (Best 2016-2025) - August, 2016 (OB)
