The Armada Vineyard Syrah was sourced from a high density vineyard, named after the Spanish Armada. Christophe Baron has found that the more vines per acre leads to more tension in the wines. The Syrah spent 8 months in 15% new French oak prior to bottling. The result is a gorgeous, inky colored Syrah, that opens to profound aromatics of blackberry pie, green peppercorn, umami, soy sauce, black tea and barn floor, which continually bring you back to the glass. The salinity and tension of this wine is remarkable, as flavors of sea salt, umami, soy sauce, peat moss are layered with red cherries and raspberry liquor. The elegant quality of this wine is simply alluring, making this sensational Syrah one of the most impressive wines from the region. (Best 2017-2027) - August, 2017 (OB)
