The 2014 La Paciencia Vineyard Tempranillo was aged in 20% new French oak for 8 months prior to bottling and opens to absolutely intoxicating aromatics reminiscent of dark fruits, black truffle oil, umami, blood orange, meat, crushed white flowers and tar. The palate is dense and beautifully concentrated with rich flavors of black cherries, black tea, black olive tapenade, milk chocolate shavings and orange rind. The weight, tension and textural richness is simply gorgeous as it leads into an exceedingly long finish. This is clearly amongst the most impressive Tempranillo bottlings in the state.
