PONZI Pinot Noir, Chehalem Mountains ‘Reserve’ 2018

The 2018 Reserve was aged for a lengthy 20 months in 40% new French oak barrels and showcases a deep garnet color with a silver rim, with barrels selected from Ponzi’s Aurora, Abetina. Madrona and Avellana Vineyards for the blend. Vibrant red cherry, violet flower, and exotic spice scents are complemented by suggestions of tangerine zest, wet autumn leaves, milk chocolate, and pencil shavings. Expansive and rich on the palate, offering decadent flavors of spiced red plum, black cherry, and toasted clove spice finish wonderfully balanced on the mid-palate. Tannins are still a touch grippy, but the mouthwatering acidity and lovely structure take it in stride. 1829 cases were made.
